The kicker signal is probably the most dramatic change in sentiment. In the case of the bearish kicker you have your first candlestick closing higher than the open, likely in the direction of the trend, and then the open the next day is lower than the open the previous day, and then price continues in the bearish direction.

Take a look at this pattern and see if you can see how dramatic it really is. The gap down from the previous days close is HUGE.

You almost get built in confirmation by virtue of price continuing to fall after the dramatic gap down.

This pattern is very high probability and will soon become one of your favorite candlestick patterns.
